REVIEW BY CONVERSATIONS BOOK CLUB:
Let's face it: there is enough going on in the world to keep us feeling down and having a grim outlook on what is possible in our personal lives and the world in general. Every now and then we need that "pick me up" that reminds us of what is possible if we only remind ourselves of the role we play in having a better life. In her book A HAPPY YOU Dr. Elizabeth Lombardo looks at the things that can make us unhappy and realize what we can do to turn things around.
One of the things she talks about in the book is the benefit that comes from writing things down. You don't have to share it, but putting on paper what we are feeling and going through will also help us to identify how we want to bring about change in our lives. That leads to another important point: identify the thing you don't like and begin to make a plan to change them. Now this is not going to happen overnight, but beginning the process is the important thing.
The book takes you through what can be seen as the ABCs of building a sense of happiness in yourself, and what is interesting is that it also lets you see that alot of it has to do with our relationships not just with ourselves but others in our lives as well.
Thoughtful and informative, A HAPPY YOU is a pleasant reminder that we all deserve and can have better lives.

REVIEW FROM CONVERSATIONS BOOK CLUB
Today's society puts a great deal of attention on how we look and what should look good to you. Author Constance Dunn takes another direction in her book PRACTICAL GLAMOUR and helps us to to decide who we are and what we want to present about ourselves to the world.
The book is geared towards women, and I get that; however, men are also being pulled in different directions by advertisement and the nagging voices around us so we can learn a few things from Dunn as well. The first thing I picked up on was the importance of realizing that in many ways your body is a blank canvas. You can decide to paint it using the standard of beauty set by others or you can decide for yourself what is right for you and your body type. Dunn shows us that we should give thought to what we see as our own best qualities and find ways to enhance these while distracting attention away from those that we see as less flattering.
This book is not just about blind advice. The author includes examples of herself an others that she has come in contact with in order to make the points that she is discussing. For me I think one of the best things about the book is that it comes across as a conversation with the reader. It gets you to think about yourself, your style presently and how you can adjust it to be the best you possible.
The book is also about the importance of your inner beauty or truth. How does who you are within translate into what people see? That to me is one of the greatest points of the book.
PRACTICAL GLAMOUR will be seen as a go-to book for women and a reminder for men about how important it is to let your personal best come through each and every day.

BOOK REVIEW: Sara Stover's THE WAY Is Just That For Women AND Men
Live in accordance with nature and your soul
Our ancestors adhered to the daily, seasonal, and yearly rhythms of nature by necessity, but modern life overrides these cycles, compromising women’s health and happiness. In this book, Sara Avant Stover shows how simple, natural, and refreshingly accessible practices can minimize stress and put us back in sync with our own cycles and those of nature. When we honor spring’s seedlings, summer’s vibrancy, fall’s harvest, and winter’s quietude, we harmonize our inner and outer worlds. Sara’s recommendations nurture the body, invigorate the mind, and lift the spirit. Illustrated yin and yang yoga sequences, one-day season-specific retreats, enticing recipes, and innovative self-reflection techniques make it easy to reconnect with the essential.
REVIEW FROM CONVERSATIONS BOOK CLUB
When it comes to books like Sara Avant Stover's The Way, I always look for a way that I can apply its message to the audiences I reach in print and on radio. In this case, though, it's not hard at all.
Stover has written a book based on her own experiences that allows for women and even men to look at the path she is outlining and seeing a way that they can use the same principles in their lives as well. I think most of us would say that we want to be Happy. Sara shows that this is more than just saying that's what we desire. We have some work to do in order to make it happy. Some of it is physical while other parts are emotional and even spiritual. I think at the end of the day the main thing is that we have to do everything in our power in order to have the life that we say we want.
Written with care and the well-being of the reader in mind, THE WAY OF THE HAPPY WOMAN is just that for women AND men.
