“When you stand and share your story in an empowering way, your story will heal you and your story will heal somebody else.” ~ Iyanla Vanzant
by Cyrus Webb
I knew that Iyanla Vanzant had a way of reaching your heart and your mind when I first read the book ONE DAY MY SOUL JUST OPENED UP. I had heard about her before the book, but I definitely became a fan of her work at that point.
Since then my favorite book has been the captivating PEACE FROM BROKEN PIECES, which chronicles not just her highs and lows but the lessons she has learned along the way. At the time that we were going to print with this special issue of Conversations Magazine I had just begun to read her newest offering FORGIVENESS (21 Days to Forgive Everyone For Everything).
Whether you have read her books, watched her speak or enjoyed her show Iyanla Fix My Life on the Oprah Winfrey Network, you know that she definitely lives her life by following her heart and her calling. That is the lesson that she gives to each of us. It is an inside job. “So many of us invest a fortune making ourselves look good to the world," she says, "yet inside we are falling apart. It's time to invest on the inside.”
When we make that investment on the inside that is when things really come together and make sense. This also will affect not just what we see in ourselves but what we allow to remain in our circle. Iyanla explains it this way: "One way to eliminate self-negating thoughts and behavior is by gaining more understanding through realizing that you cannot force others to see that what you feel is real.”
Focusing on the real will keep up walking in our own truth. It will help us stay on the path that is meant for us. It will ensure that the success meant for us will be ours.

Under Conversations Media Group & Shadow Play Entertainment Conversations Magazine is recognizing individuals who are showing that looking good is not everything. It is also about what you do with what you are given. We are calling these individuals MODEL CITIZENS.
